1. Who We Are and Our Commitment
İlé-Ìwé Learning Hub Ltd (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting the privacy and security of our students, parents, and professional learners across all touchpoints.
İlé-Ìwé Learning Hub Ltd is the data controller for personal information collected through ileiwehub.com and tutors.ileiwehub.com. This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).
For any privacy question or request, contact us at support@ileiwehub.com (please use the subject line “Privacy”).
2. Data Collection
We collect necessary personal information (such as names, email addresses, phone numbers, and region/location data) strictly for enrollment, communication via WhatsApp/email, and delivering educational services. Specifically:
- Account Details
- Your name, email address, WhatsApp number and password (stored only in encrypted, hashed form). If you sign in with Google, Facebook or LinkedIn, we receive your name, email address and an account identifier from that provider.
- Learner and Child Details
- Whether the account is for you or for your child; for a child, the child’s name, class or grade level, and curriculum.
- Payment Records
- The programme you pay for, the amount, currency, transfer date, the name on the paying account, any bank reference you provide, and the receipt or screenshot you upload. If you pay by card, the card is entered on Paystack’s or Stripe’s secure payment page, not on our website: we receive only the payment result (amount, currency, status and a transaction reference). We do not collect or store card numbers.
- Learning and Attendance Records
- Your enrolments, the live classes you join and how long you are present in them, and the learning materials available to you.
- Enquiries and Free-Guide Requests
- If you request our free guide or register interest in the Academy or Kids Learning Portal, we collect your name, email address, WhatsApp number and the date you gave your consent.
- Tutor Information
- For tutors and applicants: contact details, subjects, qualifications, experience, profile information, sign-in and attendance times, an optional Telegram chat ID, and the record of signing the Tutor Independent Contractor Service Agreement (name typed, date, time and IP address).
- Technical Information
- Your IP address and the country it indicates (used to show the right curriculum), and the cookies described in our Cookie Policy.
3. Data Usage
Information collected is used to manage student profiles, provide automated curriculum notifications, issue diagnostic report cards, and process secure payment transactions. We also use it to:
- create and secure your account, including the daily access step for staff accounts;
- verify payments and give you access to the programmes you have paid for;
- run live classes and record attendance;
- show the curriculum for your country or the one you choose;
- reply to enquiries and send the free guide and updates you asked for;
- manage tutor applications, onboarding and teaching records; and
- keep the platform secure and prevent misuse.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
Under the NDPA we rely on the following lawful bases:
- Contract: to provide the account, classes and services you sign up for, and to engage our tutors.
- Consent: for marketing emails and messages, for social sign-in, and for children’s information given by a parent or guardian. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legal obligation: to keep financial and company records required by Nigerian law.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the platform secure, prevent fraud and improve our services, where those interests are not overridden by your rights.
5. Children’s Information
Children do not create their own accounts. A parent or legal guardian registers the child, gives consent under the Parent-Guardian Consent Agreement & Waiver, and manages the account. We collect only the child information needed for teaching: the child’s name, class or grade level and curriculum, and their class attendance. We do not send marketing to children. A parent or guardian can ask to see, correct or delete their child’s information at any time using the contact details above.
6. Marketing Communications
We send marketing emails and messages (such as the free guide, programme news and enrolment updates) only to people who have asked for them by ticking the consent box on our forms. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can also opt out by contacting us. Opting out does not affect messages about your account, payments or classes.
7. Third-Party Service Providers & Data Sharing
İlé-Ìwé Learning Hub Ltd does not sell, rent, or trade personal data. We do not give or sell your personal data to other companies for their own marketing.
To deliver our platform services, we share limited personal data only with trusted service providers who act on our behalf as data processors, under contractual confidentiality and data-protection obligations. They may use the data only to provide their service to us. These providers are:
- Website Hosting: our web hosting provider stores the website, its databases and uploaded files.
- Email Marketing (Brevo or Mailchimp): to send the free guide, updates and newsletters to people who have consented to receive them. Shared: name, email address and WhatsApp number.
- Email & Notification Services: our email delivery service sends transaction receipts, sign-in links, daily access tokens for staff, schedule reminders and academic updates.
- Virtual Classroom Infrastructure (Jitsi, including Jitsi as a Service by 8×8; Zoom; Google Meet): to host live video sessions and interactive learning tools. Shared: the display name, and for Jitsi the email address, of the person joining the class.
- Social Sign-In (Google, Facebook, LinkedIn): only if you choose to sign up or sign in with one of these accounts. The provider confirms your identity and shares your name and email address with us.
- Location Lookup (IPinfo): your IP address is sent to IPinfo to find the country you are browsing from, so we can show the right curriculum. Only the country is kept.
- Staff Messaging (Telegram): for tutors and staff only, the daily sign-in token and the staff member’s name are sent through a private Telegram channel or chat.
- Payment Processors: bank transfers are handled by your bank and ours. Card payments are processed by Paystack (Paystack Payments Limited) or Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe / Stripe, Inc.), depending on the currency. They receive your name, email address, the amount and a payment reference, and process your card details under their own privacy policies and the PCI DSS security standard.
We may also disclose personal data where the law requires it, for example to comply with a court order or a lawful request from a regulator.
Data Protection Standards
All service providers are carefully vetted to ensure compliance with applicable data protection standards, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA). Third parties are granted access strictly to the minimum data required to perform their specific service functions.
8. International Transfers
Some of our service providers store or process data outside Nigeria. Where personal data is transferred outside Nigeria, we do so only as permitted by the NDPA, relying on the protections the provider offers (such as contractual safeguards), your consent, or the transfer being necessary to provide the service you asked for.
9. How Long We Keep Information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy:
- Accounts and learning records: while the account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to answer questions about past enrolments, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Payment records and receipts: for as long as Nigerian tax and company law requires us to keep financial records.
- Marketing contacts: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Tutor records and signed agreements: for the duration of the engagement and afterwards for as long as needed to meet our legal and contractual obligations.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.
10. Security Standards
In compliance with applicable data regulations and corporate governance standards, we implement robust administrative, physical, and electronic safeguards to ensure your data remains confidential and secure against unauthorized access.
These include encrypted connections to the website, passwords stored only in hashed form, a daily access step for staff accounts, payment receipts kept in a private area visible only to you and our admissions team, and access to records limited to staff who need it.
11. Your Rights
Under the NDPA you have the right to:
- be told how your personal data is used (this policy);
- access a copy of your personal data;
- have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected;
- have your data deleted where we no longer have a lawful reason to keep it;
- restrict or object to our processing, including objecting to marketing at any time;
- receive your data in a commonly used format and have it sent to another organisation (data portability);
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting processing that took place before; and
- not be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing that significantly affect you.
To use any of these rights, email support@ileiwehub.com from the email address on your account (subject “Privacy”). We may need to confirm your identity, and we will respond within the time required by law. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
12. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in and remember your choices. See our Cookie Policy for the full list.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy when our services or the law change. We will show the date of the latest change at the top of this page and, for significant changes, tell registered users by email.
